Meeting for Worship

Meeting for Worship

Meeting Time: Every Sunday at 10.30 a.m.

Meeting Address: The Hive, 33-35 Hillier St, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong [Map]

Children's Meeting: We have a for children most Sundays but you might want to check in advance if you are bringing children along and hoping for them to attend the children's meeting.

Online Meeting: You can also join us online via Zoom; please contact us via the Clerk's email address for the week’s Zoom link if you’d like to join us online. When you join via Zoom, you will be automatically muted. This means that if you have vocal ministry, you will need to unmute yourself (bottom left of the screen). You can always click the Chat function at the bottom of the screen (hover cursor at the bottom of the screen to make it show up) if you are having difficulties unmuting yourself. If you are new to Zoom, you can test the app here: https://zoom.us/test

What Happens at Meeting for Worship?

You are welcome to join us whatever your beliefs, convictions or experiences. We gather with a minimum of ritual, to sit with quiet minds and open hearts, and the belief that direct experience of God, or the Divine Light, is possible for everyone without any intermediary.

Silence and Voice Ministry

During the meeting, each person may be ministered to according to their needs. When you feel the urge you can share a brief message with the whole meeting (unmute, if attending online) by speaking in a clear voice. Usually, an attendee only speaks once in a meeting. You will need to use some discernment to determine if the message is coming from your own thoughts or whether the Spirit is prompting you to speak aloud to others.

Vocal ministry is not meant to be a conversation with one another. We refrain from the impulse to respond or add our own thoughts to any message (this includes not using the online chat feature for this). There is time after the meeting closes, in Afterthoughts or Fellowship, to take up a discussion around the voice ministry.

Closing a Meeting

Meetings normally run for an hour. In person meetings end with those present greeting each other, shaking hands, or using your own comfortable greeting method. After the silent meeting for worship we have a time of Afterthoughts that begins with brief introductions of those attending, any announcements, and requests to be held in the Light of the community. This is a suitable time to discuss any readings or voice ministry from the meeting.

Fellowship

If we are meeting face to face, we like to spend some time after the meeting in fellowship. This usually involves light refreshments and friendly chat. People attending online can request to join the fellowship and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
